The dragonkin of Ashenfall reveled in power, gaining elemental mastery from the land's strange anima. Although their kind tended to ignore magic in favour of alchemy and science, the dragonkin of Ashenfall enjoyed their time as sorcerer kings.

They wore robes that empowered their magic, using alchemical techniques to create cloth that resisted their elemental powers. Fire would not burn so easily. Cold would not damage the threads. Lightning could be turned aside with a flick of a cloak. Though these techniques are lost to time, the echoes of their powerful resistance remain.

Lacrussa was the only dragonkin to resist the allure of magic. She insisted that science was the greater power. That with time and study, it capable of almost anything. Lacrussa wore the robes as a small act of rebellion, claiming that magic would always be overcome in the end.

Unlike her companions, Lacrussa refused to decorate her robes. She took no joy in precious stones or shining metals. She refused to embroider designs across the cloak. She did, however, use alchemical techniques to enhance the robes' defensive power. Something the other dragonkin soon came to copy, proving, in her mind, the superiority of science.
