0.12.10.12.1 is now live!codex data verified29 July 2026 · 69 changes
Combat and Movement Improvements
- We're introducing the Ascension Cores feature to the Mystic Forge - use those cores to upgrade Masterwork and Vestige weapons to higher tiers using the relevant cores!
- We're adding a radial hotwheel for both Controller and Keyboard + Mouse users to speed up selecting primary items, as well as adding the quick cast shortcut for either a spell OR an item.
- Stability changes are coming to make jumping more consistent in suboptimal networking conditions that led to losing the ability to jump in some circumstances.
- You'll be able to cycle through your runes/arrows in mid combat to save you having to open your inventory.
- Jumping will cost 10 stamina, down from 20 - reducing further when Agility levels are reached.
- Leggings of Lightness, Mounts and Windstep should each be unaffected by this, so your general mobility won't change!
- We're making good progress on improving performance, additional ambient VFX and tons of optimisation for Fog, trees, grass and even the coastline. All of that is intended to make the experience more stable/smooth for you to focus on what you do best. Smacking the living daylights out of goblins.
- We're also adding more to the existing jump to improve its "ledge forgiveness" - as in, if you walk off a ledge, there's a small window of time for you to jump before you cartoonishly plummet to your demise.
Known Issues
- Power Level 7 (PL7) Shards do not exist in the World, but the recipe to convert PL7 Shards to Cores does exist in the Mystic Forge. This is not intentional. We will be removing the recipe with our 1.0 update.
- PL7 Cores are only obtained from the Nightmare Crucible directly and not through converting shards.
Bug Fixes
- We're resolving an issue where Axes were dealing incorrect damage to trees.
- We misplaced a decimal. Oops!
- We'll be reverting this to its intended value with 0.12.1, alongside several other bugfixes to woodcutting, including Splinter and Axetral Projection removing stumps.
- This was giving people disproportionate XP based on the damage dealt - we're putting values back to where they should be!
- Fixed an issue where Axtral Projection upgrades would not chop down all intended/highlighted trees.
- Fixed an issue where Splinter would destroy tree stumps if used on an adjacent log.
- Fixed an issue where the Yew Farming Plots did not snap in building modes correctly.
- Fixed an issue where Rune Vents would appear full for clients in multiplayer worlds even when depleted.
- Fixed an issue introduced in Umbral Sands where game music would loop repeatedly, primarily triggered upon respawning.
- Fixed an bug where summoning Buddy in a wall would cause the game to crash.
- Get it? Bug? Becau- oh, forget it.
- Resolved an issue where a part of the Burning Spire zone where the player could fall through Lava.
- Fixed an issue where returning to the main menu after dying would respawn the player back at the location of death.
- Fixed an issue where Potion Effects would be removed between game sessions/on logout.
- Fixed an issue where Lodestone teleports placed on the edges of the map could only be used one-way as they would fail to be displayed on the map.
- Fixed an issue where the search area on the map for the "Saga of the Adventurer" Quest Step was incorrectly aligned.
- Fixed an issue where Wild Jade Vines would die to poison in the Toxic Swamp.
- Resolved an issue where Ascension Cores weren't displayed correctly in the Mystic Forge of the crafting menu.

- Fixed an issue where the Spellwheel would not show descriptions for spells as a client in Multiplayer worlds.
- Fixed an issue where the Fire Cape would refill Stamina even if the enemy was not afflicted with burns.

0.12.0.20.12.0.2 & Investigating Issues24 June 2026 · 25 changes
Here's what we're also looking into, with the aim of hotfixing as soon as we have a resolution.
- Big headline is the visual issues around Trees, and by extension HLODs.
- We're aware of Yew Plots not snapping correctly as other Farming plots do.
- The team are continually investigating this, and your reports have been super helpful. Thank you! Targeting a hotfix this week.
- We are looking at a fix to allow users to earn the achievements for 99s by crafting a skill cape, OR by reaching the required level.
- This should only affect folks who don't already have it, but just a way to guarantee that everyone can achieve it moving forwards.
- We're investigating the Splinter crash on Dedicated Servers - it's not just Willow as we previously highlighted in the blog post below.
- Targeting a hotfix this week.
- We're checking an issue where Status effects remain on screen after the bar has emptied.
- Some crafting/processing stations are disappearing on Dedicated Servers but still leave invisible blocking behind.
- Thanks to everyone reporting this one, we're investigating the cause.
- Targeting a hotfix this week.
Here's what we're targeting for a hotfix as soon as possible:

- Garou Chit values are incorrectly displayed on inventory items.
- Fixed an issue where Food healing values were incorrectly halved on localised text strings.

- Certain Terrorbird variant consumables unlock the same variants, preventing others from being used.
- "Contact!" and "Mapping the Sands I" show the player receiving two named rewards on the UI instead of one.
Here's what we're targeting for this week (0.12.0.4+ - these might not all be in the same hotfix.)
- Fishing Locations in Fellhollow and Brynmoor are reporting that they cannot be fished in.
- Adamant Bolts require users to have crafted Adamant Arrows first.
- Tok-Xil enemies are not dropping items on death.
- Dedicated Servers: Crafting Stations disappear if the server is restarted.
- Dedicated Servers: Crashes when using the Splinter Skill Spell.
- Wading into Quicksand, and then into water, shows the sand VFX.

–Runecrafting {{!}} Proposed Improvements20 April 2026 · 25 changes
Our Findings
- We feel that the XP Curve for Runecrafting is in a good place but we will be revisiting the XP rates to assess what changes we may be taking there.
- The number of Rune Essence Geysers you find along the "golden path" (the most direct route to each quest objective) feels appropriate.
- The volume of runes you need to make in order to level feels extreme - part of that is the essence to rune conversion.
- Levelling is slower in multiplayer worlds, and the more players in a world, the harder it is to skill.
- Skilling feels slower because the target is Level 50 to unlock Law Runes as they are essential for teleportation.
- The Runecrafting Skilling Activity (Attunement) duration is too long to feel worthwhile relative to the rewards.
- The Attunement activity's signs and feedback are not clear around difficulty and the success and failure states.
Adjusting Rune Ratios
- Low Attunement: +33% Runes
- Normal Attunement: +67% Runes
- High Attunement: +100% Runes (Equivalent to 1:10)
Updating Skill Tree Perks
- Per Rune Type: Autocrafting will now award High Attunement rune output (1:10 Ratio)
- You'll get less XP than the Skilling Activity rates this way, but you'll get runes faster as a result.
Updating Anima Vents
- Anima vents will now produce 1:10 output ratios, matching rune alters and Concentrated Anima Vents will offer even bigger bonuses.
- Our maths on this is expected to be:
- ~100 Runes per standard anima vent, up from 40.
- ~300 Runes from a concentrated vent, up from 80.
Adjusting Teleportation and Law Runes:
- We’ll reduce teleportation costs from our initial calculations that we launched with - they're currently too high.
- We’ll increase Runes distributed from Anima Vents (as we mentioned above), giving players more teleport resources earlier.
Shortening the Activity Time Commitment
- Reduce the Infusion Phase (sealing cracks in the Runes) phase duration by 25%. Same output, just faster.
- We'll also adjust the drain rate during the infusion phase of runes across all attunements.
Improving the Skilling Activity Signs and Feedback
- We're replacing the Low/Medium/High bonus rune chance with the exact number of runes you'll get.
- We’ll normalize the bonus Rune loss when cracks open. Currently, high attunement can lead to 15-20% loss per second with multiple cracks, which is excessive. We’ll bring this down to a sensible value across all attunements.
- Adding clearer signs and feedback when you're failing at the minigame so that it isn't confusing.
Adjusting the Autocrafting XP Rates
- To better lean into Autocrafting being the option for when you just want runes now and are not fussed about getting maximum XP gains, you'll be getting the 10:1 ratio of runes, at 25% of the base XP earned.
- We'll add a UI message to clearly communicate this penalty to players.

Gameplay
- Added two new gameplay quest: "The Collector Calling" and "Spectral Chinchompas"
- Added new rewards for completion of activities including the Chinchompa Cape.
- Added three new activities to the game.
- As a reminder, these are smaller standalone gameplay moments that we'll continue to expand on, but they aren't replacing our major updates every quarter!
- Spectral Platforming: Soul-Rift and get jumping to find rewards.
- Spectral Birds have started appearing in the Fellhollow region. Hunt them down for Soul Fragments!
- Buried Treasure has emerged - relax, clue chasers, not like that. Look for patches of disturbed ground. Dig them up, and find hidden chests!
- Added Tooltip Descriptions for Status Effects.
- Added new craftable decorations/furniture.
What we’re doing now
- Increased the damage of Ranged projectiles (bolts and arrows). These are specific number changes (e.g. 17 → 24) but these then form the basis of damage calculations, so here's the percentages you'll see, and hopefully feel, going live:
- +41% on Longbow full-draw shots.
- +40% on Shortbow full-draw shots.
- +25% on Shortbow quickshots.
- +29% on Crossbows.
- Reduced the draw time of Longbows from 2.25s to 2.05s. (9% decrease)
- Reduced the draw time of the Crystal Bow from 2.0s to 1.65s (18% decrease)
- Adjusted the Crystal Bow's basic attack damage bringing it in line with other PL3 bows.
- Trick-shots for the Crystal Bow will now deal the intended amount of damage.
- Power Level 5 bows are out there in Fellhollow if you want to ramp up and deal even more damage!
Ammo & Crafting Costs
- Crafting Crossbow Bolts now produces 33 Bolts per Craft (up from 15)
- Arrows no longer require a region-specific wood to craft. Ash wood, feathers and a metal of choice will suffice!
- (Ash wood + feathers + metal of choice is enough!)
- Ammo recovery chance from ranged perks has more than doubled
- At higher levels, you’ll recover a meaningful amount of arrows and bolts
Quality of Life
- Moving your character no longer cancels Hunter’s Sense
Audio
- Improved dismount SFX
- Audio iteration pass on Terrorbirds.
- Mixing for Sprint SFX.
- Vocalisation and footstep improvements.

- Some Willow tree variants no longer drop ash logs.
- Thorny Irit Seeds will correctly yield seeds when harvested.

- Added accessibility option to disable screen shake under Settings->Gameplay
- Fixed an issue where the composter UI would grey out items that were valid to compost.
- Improved crafting on gamepad by making it a two-step process that first allows players to select desired quantity before crafting.
- Split stacks UI can now be controlled with D-Pad on controller.
- Build menu tooltips now anchor to the left of the menu so they do not overlap the icons on gamepad.
- Status effect names are now displayed alongside their icons when the inventory is open.
- Panel navigation has been streamlined. Switching panels in instances where the inventory and another window panel is open (such as crafting) is now handled with a click of the right stick only.
- Fixed an issue where chest name and private/linked fields could be accessed while moving items within a chest.
- Resolved cases where some input tooltips were incorrectly indicating that the input was a “hold” type.
- Zone-level information (visible in the inventory) can now be accessed using a controller.
- Localised versions of our latest Roadmap are now accesible in game!

2025
–The Road to 202619 December 2025 · 15 changes
"Major" and "Minor" Updates
- Major Updates: These are the big ones, the ones we’re aiming to roll out every quarter. They’re packed with exciting additions, from whole new regions and factions to brand new skills, mechanics, and tonnes of content. They’re designed to significantly expand the world of RuneScape: Dragonwilds, and provide you with new challenges and adventures to sink your teeth into. Think of these as the headline events for the year.
- Minor Updates: These are the steady updates we’ve been delivering almost every month since Early Access release, and they’ll continue throughout 2026. In 2025, our minor updates were largely focused on refining the core experience based on your feedback. For 2026, we’re continuing to fine-tune but we’re also putting more emphasis on adding content through side quests and activities.
- Side Quests are chains of objectives that tell a story and reward you for completing them.
- Activities, on the other hand, are smaller, standalone gameplay moments, think, puzzles, platforming challenges, special foraging, and so on. You’ll discover activities during exploration. They don’t always tie into a larger narrative, but they provide fun little gameplay nuggets to keep you entertained and progressing.
First Major Update (technically still 2025 but shhh)
- Faction enemies to challenge
- 2 new friendly NPCs
- A gripping new main quest, plus several side quests (and maybe one that unlocks a mount... *cough* find Vannaka in Fellhollow *cough*)
- A brand-new survival mechanic, “Soul-rift”
- A new dragon boss, a lesser dragon mini-boss, and a Zogre mini-boss
- A new crafting tier with weapons and armour for Attack, Ranged, and Magic
- New vestiges to chase
- New vaults to explore
- And, to top it all off, we’re introducing the farming skill! You’ll be able to start your farming journey in Brynmoor with content progressing all the way into Fellhollow.
The Road Ahead
- 1 Major Update (with new regions, mechanics, and content)
- Followed by 2 Minor Updates (with new quests and activities)

Combat
- We were previously combining damage scaling off of projectile AND weapon type meaning that the damage numbers were scaling more rapidly than other combat types. Yes, that means we're nerfing the Crystal Bow. A lot.
- Crystal Bow Changes:
- Stamina cost increased from 30 to 65
- "Force" from initial hit reduced from 600 (holy moly) to 50.
- This means that there's a much lower "hit react" to this in successive hits, which means you won't be able to stun-lock enemies when you hit them.
- Initial hit damage reduced by 50%.
- Burning status effect damage has been rebalanced.
- "Attack Steering" feature has been implemented.
- There's a grace period once you start an attack to adjust your melee and ranged attack rotations to make Melee Combat and Bow Quickshots feel more fluid and responsive. It'll feel great, even if you don't notice it right away!

–Dedicated Servers {{!}} An Update from Associate Technical Director, Mod Icecream8 December 2025 · 7 changes
- Hosting their own servers, using the Steam Server Binaries, on a computer at home or in the cloud.
- This will require some technical knowledge, as ports will need to be opened in your router, or tinkering with cloud services if you wish to use AWS or Azure, for example.
- Renting a server from one of our preferred hosting partners.
- This will be familiar to players who have spooled up servers in other Survival Craft games with friends. We are working with a hosting partner to make this as straightforward as possible in a simple and affordable way, so you can get right into the action.
- These will be available in one of two forms of server:
- Moddable, customizable servers where you can adjust the rules and settings as you like, or...
- "Vanilla" Dedicated Severs which cannot be modified, and will be fully secure. These will be flagged differently in the server list, so players can select servers knowing they are secured, and what you see is what you've earned authentically.

Creative Mode is now available!

- Functional Keyboard Rebinding implemented
- New multiplayer protections have been added:
- Gravestone Protection: A new option in gameplay settings so that other players will not be able to loot your gravestone.
