While heavier than other materials, there’s little argument that a bronze shield is a superior defence to wood and leather materials. The metal turns aside almost any blow, protecting the wielder behind its mass.

Even the Wild Knights, who usually shunned metal weapons, would don bronze shields into battle. Their philosophy was that a life is worth more than a principle.

Before the peace treaty with their goddess, Lougrim, the garou would often get into conflict with travelling villagers. They saw the humans as prey, willfully intruding on their land and therefore consenting to be hunted. The humans, of course, saw things differently.

Garou weapons were powerful and delivered by creatures of unnatural strength. Yet bronze would defend against these attacks, and it gave the garou pause, for they had yet to battle foe with such intriguing technology. Battles that would previously have been a slaughter became skirmishes as the garou tested their might against these new bronze defences.

This comparative peace did not last long.
