Not all magic is focused on the obliteration of one’s enemies; though many would argue that’s where the fun lies. No, magic can also improve the rest of one’s life in similarly impressive ways.

This necklace, favoured by artisans, miners, lumberjacks and similar, is an example of such magic. The enchantment is simple, it enhances ones luck. When swinging at a rock, you have a higher chance of finding that weak seam. If cutting down a tree, the forces acting on your cuts make it easier to fell it. You are a little luckier in your endeavours and therefore get better results.

In the Wizard’s Tower this has caused no end of arguments. Luck, isn’t a thing. It’s not a law of creation, nor a principle on which the measured universe runs. Cause has Effect. Doing one action creates an outcome, a different action another. Luck, whilst popular with the layperson, isn’t something that can be measured or refined, it’s simply coincidence, nothing more.

Yet, this necklance proves that it must be a thing. Even though it can’t be. Therefore this little trinket has been the source of some of the longest, loudest and most violent debates for decades.
