The Rasmodels were notorious for their use of poison. When they lived to the south, in Temple Woods and Bramblemead, it was often said that you should cover your cup, mouth and ears around a Rasmodel. One of the family was finally caught red-handed (or green-handed, considering the poison used), and the rumour moved to certainty. They were banished to Dowdun.

The reputation followed them, and mostly became a gift rather than curse. No-one in Dowdun Reach wanted to cross the Rasmodels for fear of waking up in spasms.

We say that it was 'mostly' a gift, because of an event between a young Lord Rasmodel and his cousin. Lord Rasmodel claimed that he could shoot an apple from the top of his cousin's head, and promptly did so. He handed one of the resulting apple-halves to his cousin who ate it, and promptly keeled over and died.

It turned out that the arrow used to the cleave the apple was poisoned. Lord Rasmodel claimed that he had been using his father's hunting arrows, and one of them must have been tainted. It seemed entirely plausible.

But there was still doubt. And that doubt grew into a reputation: a reputation that outmatched his own family's. Even at the age of eight, the inhabitants of Dowdun Reach gave Lord Rasmodel a wide berth.
