The Moon Garou believe this weapon was given to them by a goddess of the river, who took the desperate garou and raised them up to become masters of the desert sands. The weapon was created as a tool against one of the deadliest denizens of the dunes – the kalphites.
The blade tip can find its way through the chinks in the Kalphite exoskeleton, piercing through the chitinous armour and damaging the much squishier flesh beneath. It was turned many a battle against the Kalphites from a garou bloodbath, to a garou victory banquet – though they tend to find the Kalphite meat a little less appetising then they’d like.
Moon Garou champions are gifted the Keris dagger after achieving a great victory. It is a symbol of their bravery and marks them as skilled warriors to all the other tribes. In olden times, a bearer of the Keris would be treated with great respect. They would be given food, lodging and anything else they needed to further their victories.
Nowadays, however, the Keris is seen more as a tool of survival against the insectoid foe.
