Noggin was never the best looker in Ashenfall, or so others claimed. He lived his life ashamed of his appearance and wore a sad-looking sack across his face so that none would fall ill from his hideous features.

He found himself an outcast. Mocked and jeered at by the locals of Bramblemead, so he hid himself away in the forests, but kept wearing the sack.

One day, while he was standing in a field scaring birds away, just for the fun, he met a lost villager who had wandered too far. She was frightened, at first, and fearful of the strange figure with a face of itchy cloth, but as they talked and laughed together that fear fell away.

In time, they would grow closer with one another. Developing feelings that Noggin never believed he would feel. On the day they were to be wed, Noggin finally let her see the face beneath the sackcloth, but there was no face to be found.

Instead, when the sack was removed, Noggin’s clothes went limp and fell to the floor in a pile and the woman screamed as the silence engulfed her.

Now Noggin’s face appears on scarecrows and training dummy’s all across Ashenfall, and on cold, dark nights, you could swear they are watching.
